Paul McCartney: music legend in Brazil
The former Beatle is considered to be the most successful pop music composer in history. In May he will be playing in Belo Horizonte (04), Goiania (06) and Fortaleza (09 “Hey Jude, don’t make it bad, take a sad song and make it better...” These are the opening lines of one of the most popular pop songs in history. It was composed in 1968 by Paul McCartney, in partnership with Lennon, and was number one in the charts across the globe.  Every musician dreams of getting to the top of the charts. One big hit can be enough to bring the artist fame and fortune. In this regard [1], Paul McCartney has achieved more than any other musician. In 1979, the Guinness Book of Records stated that he was the most successful pop music composer in history. According to Guinness, 29 songs written by McCartney went to number one in the charts in the USA (20 of them when he was in The Beatles).  Macca, as he is known, holds other records. His song ‘Yesterday’ is the most played song in the history of radio. This tune [2] has been covered by over 2,000 musicians from many different countries.  


Life after The Beatles

The Beatles broke up in 1970, but Paul's hits factory went on in full swing [3]. In the 1970s he formed the band Wings, and continued to produce memorable singles. In the 1980s he wrote new hits - some of these songs were written in collaboration with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Sir Paul McCartney is left-handed [4] and many years ago became a vegetarian. Besides singing and composing, masterly [5], Paul plays several musical instruments.
