Olá garotada amante de gibi .Nunca deixa de ler .
Monica, a 50-year-old child... The character Monica was created in March 1963. Maurício de Sousa was inspired by his own daughter to create this character.
Mauricio de Sousa has created more than 200 characters. Some were
inspired by his own children. In March 1963 he created the character Monica,
who was inspired by his daughter, also named Monica. At that time
Mauricio's daughter was onlythree years old and loved playing with her stuffed
bunny [1]. After watching his little daughter, Mauricio created the
character Monica, who also has a stuffed bunny. Some time afterwards,
Mauricio created Magali (Maggy), inspired by another daughter, who loved
eating watermelon. Monica's adventures have been published in newspaper
strips [2] for years. In 1970 the first comic book [3]
was published about Monica and her gang's [4] adventures. To
celebrate the 50th anniversary of his most famous character (alongside
Cebolinha - Jimmy, in the English language version), Mauricio de Sousa is
organizing a series of events that will be held across the country. As for
the real Monica - Mauricio's daughter - she works as the director of the
commercial area at Mauricio de Sousa Produções.
A very strong girl...
In the stories created by
Mauricio, Monica is a child with a strong personality. She tends to get very
angry when someone provokes her. Her friend, Jimmy, loves to tease her,
calling her “toothy [5],” “chubby [6]” and “shorty [7]”.
Smudge (Cascão) also likes to tease [8] his friend.
They have taken several beatings [9] for their trouble -
after all, Monica is simply one of the strongest girls in the world of
comics.
